THE FIRST MONSTER TRANSFORMATION LOG

It is time.

Three days before, everyone in the Tower starts to feel a little off. Fevers, body aches... it's like a sickness has washed over. And it only gets more and more uncomfortable, more painful, as the days go on. Oddly enough, however, they all seem to stop as soon as you awaken on Halloween. As if you were never sick to begin with.

There's a note slipped underneath your door. It reads:

Greetings, my friends. Today, I would like to throw a party. It's a special day, after all. Halloween. And what is a Halloween without a party?

It's going to be a masquerade. In front of your door will be a package, and inside will have a mask and outfit. It's mandatory for you to wear these and go to the mess hall at eight PM sharp. There, a plethora of themed foods will await as well as a candy bowl. You may take from it whenever you like.

Happy Halloween, my friends.



As stated, in front of your door is a package with a themed outfit inside. Your mask is that of a creature, and the outfit matches as well. If the mask is that of a wolf, for example, it will come with an outfit that uses pelts to accessorize. The outfits are weirdly form fitting, and once the mask is put on your face you won't be able to remove it. Like it's been glued on to your skin.

The party is what the Admin said it would be. Even though there are only three outsiders, it's full of people wearing their masks and outfits. They all look suspiciously like the chefs, like someone cloned one person and copy pasted them all over the room. It's very odd, and none of them speak. So despite it being full of people it's a.. quiet party.

The food is all themed to Halloween. Even the human meats. Some of the food is cute in it's design, with ghosts and pumpkins and other cute Halloween things being integrated in the food. The other side, however, has very gory and gruesome designs in the food. Blood and guts everywhere. It's a bit hard to tell which food is really made of humans and which was made to look like it was.

There's one more thing: as the night goes on you begin to feel ill again. But much worse, and much quicker. It gets worse, and worse, and worse until the clock hits midnight. Once that happens..... all hell breaks loose.

Without warning, your body begins to change. Painfully, and awfully bloody. Parts start to burst from your skin, your bones shift and move, and soon you will become the same creature as the one on your mask.

player report page


PLAYER REPORT PAGE


The point of this page is to be a place for players to report others for inappropriate behaviour or for taking advantage of the lax AC to squat. I strongly encourage players to talk it amongst themselves before coming to this page. But this place is also a safe space for those who can't confront someone's behaviour for whatever reason that may be.

Comments are screened, and anonymous comments are not allowed. I will ignore any report made with an anonymous comment. You may not use a sock account to report someone, either. This is to avoid the potential of multiple people abusing the system to get someone they don't like in trouble.

Reporting a player doesn't mean any action will be taken. It is up to the mod's discretion if an issue needs repercussions or not.

You may also come to this page if someone reserving or apping has problematic behaviour and should be looked at before we let them into the game. Please come with evidence that is no older than 3 years. If there is no recent evidence of them behaving in a poor way, or if I feel as though they deserve a warning instead of a ban for what they've done, they will be let into the game but we will still keep an eye on them.

LOCATIONS

In The Top, there is only one main location.....






The Tower

There's a seemingly infinite amount of floors in the tower and one large, winding staircase in the middle of it that leads to every floor. The first 15 floors hold the dormitories. The floor directly above holds the mess hall. Above that are the Working Floors: floors full of random workshops, the Gift Shop, and more.

Above those floors.... are no more. the stairs never approach another floor to step out on to, instead it keeps winding up, and up, and up with no end in sight. After significant events, new floors will be unlocked.

There are windows on every floor, showing off the world outside. And all you can see.. is red. A dark, dark red sky that spans over a lake of lava. It surrounds the bottom of the Tower, keeping anyone from leaving or entering and seems to go on for miles.

The Dormitories




There are 10 floors that hold ten dorm rooms per floor. Each room has two bunk beds, four characters to a room. When you're accepted, you are assigned a random room. Dorm assignments are here.

The Mess Hall



In the mess hall, there is a ton of tables for characters to sit at. There are a couple of food stations with chefs behind them, each serving something different. One serves human food, one serves human meat, one makes neglectful treats using blood, another serves souls on a silver platter, and the last serves recipes using energy. They all serve every kind of recipe you can think of. If there's pancakes at the human food stall, there's pancakes at all the other ones.

The Working Floors



Continuing up the winding staircase, you find the "workers" and their stations. The workers are NPCs whose purpose is only to serve your characters. There is a workshop where characters can get their mirrors and other objects (furniture, technology, etc) fixed. There is a tailor where they can get their clothes trimmed, hemmed, fitted, and if they bring fabric the tailor will make them a random outfit that he thinks would suit them. There is the gift shop that is run by a silent man who hides behind shades, only giving nods or a shake of his head as answers. And there is a blacksmith to mend metal and fix weapons.

There are two more rooms on this floor. One is an indoor garden with a large tree in the middle of a hill of grass. There's flowers of all kinds growing all around the garden, and butterflies somehow live inside despite the fact that the room is stale and the sun that shines through the windows is completely made of magic. There are no windows, in order to give the illusion of it being in a sunny environment rather than the dark, red sky that surrounds the Tower.

The other room is a pool. It's almost the entire room in length, and the pool is about 20 feet deep. It's more of a lake, though-- it's a large, circular body of water surrounded with rocks and foliage. Tropical fish can be found near the bottom of the pool, enjoying the deep water.

THE DEATH PAGE

Death is not permanent in The Top, however it comes with a permanent consequence so you must decide carefully whether or not you want to kill off your character. When a character dies, their gem has been destroyed. This means a new one must be made, and with it comes a new version of that character. After a week, they are given a new body but that comes with a fresh mind. Meaning: all memories from their time in The Top are gone. They will be as they were when they first arrived.

There is a boon to doing this, however. If you decide to kill your character you may choose to pick a new monster type for them. It's a free choice, and this time the choice of which monster is entirely yours unless you choose to have it be random or picked from another list of three.

You may also choose to change your character into a special monster type that is available to you once a character dies. The Ghoul. The Ghoul will have information in the monster page.

MONSTER TYPES

There are 17 monster types. Below, I will list the types and their physical and behavioural traits, and you must choose at least 5 traits for your transformation, except for their food cravings which are all mandatory. Obviously, you can choose all of the traits if you want. I will also list some animals and similar monsters you can draw inspiration from, but anything similar not on the list is also fine for inspiration. Strap in, this is a long page.

† Fur growth on any part of the body.

† Eyes that glow when feeding or emotional.

† Animalistic features that can range from having ears, a snoot and a tail to being half or fully anthropomorphic. Weres must look mostly animalistic, however you do not have to stick to the traditional werewolf. They can be werecats, weredogs, weremonkeys, werewhatevers as long as they are mammals. Nothing that can fly, no fish, no bugs, no lizards. If they have a snoot they may be able to have a keen sense of smell.

† Weak to silver and other classic Werewolf repellents.

† Easily sent into an uncontrollable rage.

† The need to imprint on another creature and be loyal to them.

† Long limbs, or about a foot in height can be gained.

† Able to eat 5 times than a normal creature could.

† Rapid muscle growth. You'll be sporting that six pack in no time!

† Needs to eat human meat.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Any mammal.

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Werewolf, werebear, were anything, almost.

ZOMBIE

TRAIT LIST:

† Teeth begin to fall out. Can lose only one, to all teeth.

† Skin begins to rot and fall off.

† Body parts rot and fall off.

† Eyes that glow at all times.

† An intense need for brains.

† A body odor that resembles that of a dead body.

† A constant feeling of fatigue.

† Brain fog. Your character has a harder time processing things as fast as they used to, and can sometimes find it hard to come up with responses.

† Constant, aching pain throughout their body. It's tough being dead.

† A compulsion to keep the skin covered. Any material will do. (Think a mummy.)

† Slow at walking, running, etc.

† Weak to fire

† Must eat human brains.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

None applicable.

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Zombie, skeleton, mummy, etc.

ANGEL

TRAIT LIST:

† Can gain up to two extra pairs of arms.

† Can gain up to three pairs of wings that will help them fly like a bird.

† Body may be humanlike, like the usual Angel design, or they may have their body transform into that if a circular shape or wheel like the throne, or you may mix the two forms however way you want. A throne-like shape for the head only, for example.

† Hair may turn a bright, iridescent white that gives off a faint or bright glow especially in dark areas. Other parts of the body may also give off a glow such as eyes, mouth, teeth, fingernails, wings, and there can be a glow that shines from underneath the skin.

† May gain an extreme sense of justice, and feel the need to punish or at least make passive aggressive comments towards people who they feel have slighted them or done something they disapprove of.

† Can have up to three halos of any shape, size, or color. Halos may be placed anywhere on, around, or near the body.

† Longer limbs, can gain up to three feet in height.

† Multiple eyes, as many as you'd like and they can all function like normal eyes or only a few select eyes can.

† Obsession with numbers, especially if they repeat.

† The need to do good deeds, however it's all up to your character what they consider Good.

† An innate disgust for Devil creatures.

† A hunger for human energy.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Birds for the wings.

† The need to commit sins. It depends entirely on your character's own perception of sin.

† Weakness to salt, sage, exorcisms, and other stereotypical Devil repellents.

† Hungry for human souls.

Bats, lizards, birds (wings), big cats (paws, tails, lion manes).

DRYAD

TRAIT LIST:

† Sharp teeth. Can be just a pair of fangs or sharp like shark teeth.

† Scales, spines, or other bark/bone/thorn protrusions.

† Hair made of plants.

† Skin turns into the colour of a plant of your choice, can also grow into the texture of bark or leaves.

† Can glow at any points on the body, think of mushrooms that glow.

† Colored sclera.

† Vines growing out of any part of the body, as many vines as you'd like.

† Feet/legs that are made of roots.

† Able to excrete poison from glands if they have poisonous plants on their person.

† Comfortable most in a "familiar" environment. A grassy area for those made of common plants, a swampy area for plants that grow in water. A desert for cactus creatures.

† A need for sunlight and water.

† Must eat human energy to survive.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Plants.

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Dryad, nymph, ent, spriggan, mandrakes, etc

CLOWN

TRAIT LIST:

† Face markings, or "makeup", will appear on character's faces. This is your clown makeup.

† May grow a big, round nose that squeaks or honks when it's squeezed. Any color.

† Hair, eyes, skin, and inside of the mouth may change colors depending on clown type. Vibrant and saturated colors for your average clown, monotone for your mimes.

† Can be a Scary Clown, which grow stronger at the sound of screams and crying and grows weaker at the sound of laughter. Or could be a Good Clown, which grow stronger at the sound of laughter and joy and grows weak at the sound of anguish.

† Able to unhinge jaw and put items down throat as needed. The wording is weird but think swallowing swords. They can't digest items, so they must get them back out if they don't want some really bad consequences.

† Oversized hands and/or feet.

† An obsession with dressing like a clown. To the point where they cannot think about anything else until they are in their approved stage outfit.

† Hair that defies usual hair logic. Huge hair, hair made of yarn strands (like Raggedy Ann), hair that defies gravity with extremely specific shapes, etc.

† The ability to mime so realistically that it's almost as if the invisible objects were there.... but they're not.

† A prankster attitude. Clowns of all kinds love to play pranks, that range from completely harmless to Saw Style Torture.

† Long limbs, can gain up to a foot in height.

† Can contort enough to fit into small spaces.

† Very social, to the point where being alone makes them extremely uncomfortable or even scared.

† Amazing performance skills. They can now perform tasks they never even dreamed of. Singing, dancing, acrobatics, acting-- they can do it all.

† Scary balance. They can walk along something as thin and fragile as a spiderweb. These skills come in handy for parkour.

† They eat human bones.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Clown, circus clown, pierrot, jester, mime, rodeo, harlequin, etc.

CENTAUR

TRAIT LIST:

† Limbs replaced with those of an animal. Typically for these kinds of creatures, the lower half is replaced entirely with the body of a mammal. Horse, big cat, elephants, giraffes, anything like that. Spiders and centipedes for arachnids and snakes for lamia.

† The head (face, really) must retain it's original shape and form. Unlike weres which have animalistic features in their face, the centaurs do not as they are more like half-animal half-not. For example, you may have a horse with a human head as your centaur.

† Sharp teeth. Fangs, or in the style of shark teeth.

† Immunity to poisons, alcohol, caffeine etc.

† Eyes that glow when they become emotional.

† Natural sense of direction.

† A pair of horns or antlers.

† A knack for music.

† An uncontrollable rage-mode that is triggered when upset to intense levels.

† An inflated sense of pride.

† The ability to spin webs and climb up walls.

† A hunger for human meat.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Any mammal. Spiders, scorpions, centipedes for arachnids. Snakes.

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Centaur, arachnid, minotaur, satyr/fawn, lamia, etc.

KAIJU

TRAIT LIST:

† Sharp teeth. Can be just a pair of fangs or sharp like shark teeth.

† Long limbs, can grow an extra 5 feet.

† An uncontrollable rage-mode that is triggered when upset to intense levels.

† Big feet.

† Fur or scale growth all over the body. The only parts left without fur/scales include the area around the eyes, nose, mouth. And the palms of hands and feet.

† Can have one big eye instead of a pair of eyes on the face.

† Can grow a big lizard tail.

† Naturally clumsy, tend to destroy anything in path even on accident.

† Extremely sensitive feelings. Tend to feel more empathetic than the other creatures, as well as easier to hurt.

† Good with animals. Not the ability to talk or control them, but they have a soothing presence for animals.

† The ability to withstand extreme temperatures.

† The need to eat human meat.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Primates and reptiles.

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Yeti, bigfoot/sasquatch, cyclops, giant, skunk ape, godzilla-esque creature (kaiju), king kong-esque creature (also a kaiju).

MERCREATURE

TRAIT LIST:

† Sharp teeth. Can be just a pair of fangs or sharp like shark teeth.

† Scales, spines, or other bony protrusions.

† Lower body replaced with the lower half of an aquatic creature.

† Craves solving puzzles and challenges, is quite good at them too.

BROWNIE

† Shrunken down in size, no smaller than 6 inches tall.

† Obsessed with keeping their area clean. Will clean other people's spaces if they feel it's too cluttered.

† Sensitive to nature. Has a very strong dislike for those who disrespect it.

† Big, pointed ears.

† A big, pointed hat that grows in and cannot be removed like a Gnome's hat. Any color.

† Facial hair that cannot be shaved.

† Penchant for pulling pranks and tricks on other creatures.

† Are excellent at creating tunnels, and complex tunnel systems.

† Insect wings and the ability to fly like a bug.

† A glittery, sparkly dust that sprinkles off your body when you move.

† Need to eat human meat.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Bugs for wings.

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Brownies, borrowers, gnomes, elves, dwarves, pixies, fairies, etc.

DRAGON

SLIME

TRAIT LIST:

† Body is translucent. Can be a little translucent or completely clear.

† Body is made up of a slimy substance. You may choose how slimy this may be. They could be entirely made of slime to the point where they have no bones and can squeeze through small cracks and into small openings, or you could have only their skin and muscle be slime, with their bones and organs visible inside. The gem acts like a nucleus.

† Leaves a sticky, colourful residue behind.

† Has a slimy tail/lower body is half slime.

† Eyes migrate into stocks on the top of their heads.

† Cannot digest normal food. It simply falls out of their slimy body.

† Can secrete a poisonous goop out of their skin/slime.

† Can grow a shell like a snail, clam, etc.

† Slow at walking, running, etc. The slimier they are, the slower they are.

† Must consume human energy to survive.

ANIMALS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Slugs, snails, sea cucumber, jellyfish, clams, and anything else slimy,

MONSTERS YOU MAY DRAW INSPIRATION FROM:

Slimes. Just.... slimes. Anything slimy.

ANIMATRONIC

TRAIT LIST:

† Innards are replaced with non-organic materials. Metals, wires, plastics, rocks, recycled goods, wood, etc.

† The skin is made of non-organic materials. Metals, wires, plastics, rocks, recycled goods, wood, etc.

† The blood is "replaced" with a fuel source. It's still the same colour as your mana, but with the same consistency of things like oil, plasma, nuclear waste and the like.

† Limbs replaced with robotic/plastic/fake ones of some kind. You may use this to make cyborgs, ball jointed dolls, full robots, etc.

† A voice that sounds synthetically made. Robotic, AI Generated, etc.

† Reading and expressing emotions is difficult.

† A weakness to water.

† Bones are replaced by a metal endoskeleton.

ACTIVITY REWARDS

Characters will wake up once in a while with coins underneath their pillow. There is a giftshop in the floors above that has all kinds of things you can buy, and they can bring those coins there to redeem them. There is a tall, pale man with a pair of circular shades that rest on the bridge of his nose who sits behind the counter. He doesn't speak, only shaking his head or nodding in reply to answers.

Some items are physically there to be bought, others are simply slips of paper with a description of what is to be bought. Some things, like extra limbs for example, can't simply be found on a shelf. Characters will wake up with a fever and after three days, their new physical change will be complete.

Every five comments is one coin. You may use threads from the logs, network, toplevels/posts that didn't get any replies, inbox threads and TDM threads for Bonus AC. You may redeem as many tokens as you want per month, and can use threads that are as old or new as you'd like.

Threads with new characters on the intro logs are worth 1 coin per comment. That means they are 5 times the amount as a normal coin, and this counts for new players who tag each other on their intro log as well.

REWARDS

20 COIN REWARDS

One additional monster part(s): A set of arms, wings, tail, set of horns, etc.
One pet from home + carrier: Self explanatory. Pokemon will come with Pokeballs.
One small item from home: A clothing set, a backpack with up to five items inside, a gun, anything is fair game as long as it's able to be carried on your person.
One small item from thin air: Basically, if you want to give your character something like a new weapon or a new set of clothing this is how! Anything they can carry on their person.
Permanent monster form: If you want to be physically intimate with all your monster bits or otherwise just think being a monster is cooler than a human, this is the regain for you!
Gemstone modifications: You may move your gemstone to another part on your body, have many gemstones of the same type grow all over your body, etc. This changes the cosmetic side of your gemstone if you don't want it to be in the middle of your chest.

50 COIN REWARDS

New monster type: You may change your monster type to any other that you would like, including the Ghoul which can otherwise only be gained by dying.
Large item from home: Furniture, Gundams and other robot suits, statues and other decoration. 12ft maximum height.
Large item from thin air: Anything like what's listed above!
Move out of dorm: You may pay to move out of your dorm into any other one that you'd like, as long as it doesn't already have four characters inside.

100 COIN REWARDS

Mixed monster types: You may add up to two monster types to add on top of the one you already have. How that ends up looking and working is up to you entirely but they must have at least two traits whether they are physical or behavioral from the new monster(s) you choose to mix in.
Memory regain: If your character has died, and you decide that you miss the old memories your character had you may regain them back here. They will keep both the old and the new ones they've made since.
New Room: If you don't like your bunkmates, you can buy yourself a solo room. It comes with a mini kitchen and a queen sized mattress.

1000 COIN SPECIAL REWARD

This will be a secret until it's unlocked by the first player who regains it, then it will be on the page and available to save up for as normal.

Monster assignments will be announced on the 14th of every month, and a monster transformation process happens on the last day of their first month in game. IF A CHARACTER IS A CRAU FROM A MONSTER GAME, YOU MAY BYPASS THE MOD ASSIGNMENT AND CHOOSE THE MONSTER TYPE CLOSEST TO THE ONE THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY. They will still go through the transformation process the same as everyone else, but their bodies will remember what they used to be and try to go back to that.

Are they humanized?: If your character isn't human originally, or has had monster changes before, they're forcibly turned into a human from head to toe. If this has to happen to your character, please note that here! You can also describe or leave an image of what their human self looks like, if you'd like.

THE RULES

1. The golden rule. Treat those as you would treat yourself.

Inappropriate behavior that will get you an immediate strike includes: ship pushing, being overly sexual in public game related places where it is not otherwise marked NSFW (the game discord for example), forcing interactions with other players, ignoring DNI requests or permission posts/opt-outs, arguing with mod decisions for an extended period of time (someone who just won't listen), using aliases to get around bans, attempting to take over/become the protagonist of the plot to the detriment of other players (hogging event sign ups or acting hostile towards players that get boons from events that you wanted, for example), making private cliques to gossip-- and I'll add more if I have to deal with anything else.

I also would like to add, that the mods have every right to remove you from the game without a strike if they feel that they need to.

2. No god modding, no fourth walling without consent of the other player, no info-modding.

3. Actions will have repercussions. If your character does something that would be deserving of a punishment or will result in a negative direction towards the plot, I won't shy from that! And please remember that negative CR does not reflect on the person behind the character tagging you. If you feel as though someone is bleeding IC/OOC lines and having their characters react too harshly to something your character does, it's probably not that deep!

However, you may always come to the mods if a player is taking something too far and/or making you uncomfortable.

4. Make sure to read and respect each other's permission posts/triggers. It's important to know what may or may not make your fellow players uncomfortable, especially in a setting that deals with horror.

5. Properly tag and lock your posts! If you write something with smut, please write it in a locked post to the log comm. (You may use it for AC and bonus AC.) Same with posts that may contain a gratuitous amount of gore, body horror, vomit, and things of that nature.

6. Talk to a mod before planning any game changing arc for your character. I know it's easy to get swept up in excitement when you get a good idea, but you never know if an idea you have is something the mods already had in mind for future events!

7. You cannot kill NPCs without permission.

COLOURS, GEMS, AND THEIR POWERS



Every character wakes up in The Top with a gem (of any shape and any type as long as it is one solid colour. Gems with more than one colour in them are not allowed..... yet.) protruding from the middle of their chest. Over the period of a month, the gem replaces characters blood with mana which colours their veins and even their skin to match. It's pretty easy to tell who has what powers by looking at them. There's six colours and each colour has a set of powers associated with it. The powers are as below:


RED

Those with gems that shine a shade of red have powers that center around animals. They will be able to:

• Fly/hover/glide without the use of wings
• Summon, control, and speak with animals*
• Transform into any animal**


*From birds, to fish, to mammals, to bugs. Can control Weres, Centaur, and Mercreatures with permission.
**From birds, to fish, to mammals, to bugs. You may only turn into the whole animal, unable to speak with others unless they also have a red gem.


ORANGE

Those with gems that shine a shade of orange have powers that center around the weather. They will be able to:

• Summon and control wind/rain
• Summon bolts of lightning*
• Summon fog and dissipate into mist in order to escape**


*Think like Zeus. They appear as two foot long bolts in the palm of player's hands, rather than being a lightning strike from the sky/ground.
**Like a vampire, their body turns into mist and can come together to form back into a full body again. Their gem floats in the mist.


YELLOW

Those with gems that shine a shade of yellow have powers that center around the mind. They will be able to:

• Use telekinesis
• Use telepathy to read minds or speak with thoughts
• Control minds*


*Can control NPCS for threads without asking as long as no one is killed (like control the chef to make a good dinner for once), and must ask other players for consent first to use on their character.

GREEN

Those with gems that shine a shade of green have powers that center around superhuman abilities. They will be able to:

• Have super strength*

• Have super intelligence***


*Carry up to 1000 pounds, easily.
**Can run up to 200MPH, easily.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


SETTING:

What is the setting like?

Characters find themselves waking up in a room with three other people, two bunk beds to split between them, within a tower that never seems to have an end. There is a point where characters will reach what seems to be the top floor, only to find that the tower itself continues onward, the spiral stair case they followed to get there winding up and up and up in the empty space above them. Sometimes, after a significant event happens, a new floor will suddenly appear...maybe one day you'll be able to actually reach the top? Rumor has it someone called "The Admin" lives up there, so it must exist...right?

And maybe your exit out of this tower is up there, because beyond that there doesn't seem to be a way out. There's the bottom floor, but its doors can't be opened, and even if they could...one look out of one of the tower's many windows will show you that the tower is surrounded by a wide lake of lava, making escape impossible.

Equally concerning - or possibly just equally curious - as their new surroundings and lack of escape is the palm-sized gem now embedded in the middle of their chest. It's quite noticeable, as everyone wakes up in the same white t-shirt and shorts that makes it easy to see. And no two gems are exactly the same between person to person though there is one single trait that seems to remain similar throughout them all - every gem represents one of six main colours. These gems have become the characters' "hearts", slowly replacing their blood with mana until that's all that "pumps" through their veins, the color of their gem dying the color of their mana - their "new blood". And with that mana comes magic; Magic that grants them powers but also a monstrous new form.

Once the mana has completely replaced their blood - one month after they woke up within the tower - the magic activates and so, too, does their gruesome transformation.

There is, however, a way keep this transformation at bay; Physical touch between characters causes some sort of reaction, the gems of those involved glowing bright and the characters finding themselves remaining human for a little bit longer or even becoming human once again. And this might just be the only comfort you'll find while trapped here.

The Top is a monster transformation game that is horror centric while also featuring affection, intimacy and smut elements. The game is aimed at being medium paced with events that are gruesome, mentally torturous, and a little bit sexy on the side with some crack-esque events added very occasionally to help break up the trauma. There will be an endgame after which the game will be opened up fully to the public to be used as a musebox or those who want to continue enjoying the setting.


My character is already a monster!

Every non-human character is humanized upon waking up in The Top. It's up to players how they look as a human, but this way everyone has an equal baseline before they begin transforming. The Admin prefers clean experiments.


My character already has powers! Will they get to keep them?

Unfortunately, everyone is stripped of everything super-natural about them, right down to eyes that glow. Characters can keep human-level abilities that they've trained in - up to the Olympic level at most - but anything that exceeds that and/or leans into the super-human will be lowered to a normal human level (characters such as One Punch Man's Saitama, for example, he'll find his punch to be more of a professional boxer now). Extra limbs, eyes, etc are also lost, though sharp teeth and/or fangs may stay.


My character has an illness/missing limb/scar/is dead in canon!

As mentioned before, the Admin likes having clean, even starts for his experiments. He will heal all illnesses and injuries and missing limbs will suddenly be grown back or replaced with a plastic prosthetic that looks like a part of a mannequin.

Scars may be healed or kept, it is up to you. As with things such as blindness, deafness, muteness, etc. You may choose to keep or heal those.

Characters who are dead are in a new, fresh body!


What is technology like? How about the Network?

Technology is rather basic, nothing really more advanced than the lightbulb to be found in the tower, and anything that should run off electricity running on magic instead.

There is a network within the tower, however, and works like this: Each character is given a handheld mirror (of any color you'd like) and using this mirror they are able to see messages left by other characters and interact with them in real time. They can post and respond using video by looking directly into the mirror as they talk, voice by simply speaking to the mirror, or text by writing on the mirror's surface using any means; Marker, lipstick, or just breathing on it and writing in the fog will do.


What if my character loses/breaks their hand mirror?

Luckily any mirror within the tower can act as a network device! You can't use a broken mirror to talk to others across the network, so if a character breaks their mirror they might be stuck in a bathroom screaming at the mirrors in there temporarily until it's fixed. Characters can bring their broken mirrors to the Workshop to have them repaired.

A lost hand mirror, however, is lost forever. Characters who are careless and lose their mirror completely will have to rely on the other mirrors in the tower indefinitely and hope that their mirror is found and returned.


How do our characters understand each other if they speak different languages?

As soon as your character wakes up in The Top, they will magically know a new language that is spoken universally within the tower, though will still retain and be able to speak their previous known language(s) as well. Characters can speak these languages as naturally as they could before, so Japanese characters can still use honorifics and characters who purposefully used foreign languages in the middle of their sentences can continue doing so 'til their heart's content (such as stereotypical lover boys and their gratuitous use of French).


You mentioned a workshop? What does the inside of the tower look like?

Smack dab in the middle of the tower is a giant, spiral staircase connecting every floor. It starts on the bottom floor and goes on and on and on...even when there are no more floors to explore.

The bottom floors are the dorms where characters live and the floor above that is the mess hall, spanning the entire floor to ensure there's enough room and then some for characters to sit and eat. Above the mess hall are the working floors which is where the Workshop and similar rooms are located. The workshop is a room where an old man who refuses to give his name will repair various items for the tower. Anything the students bring in, he'll fix.

GAME MECHANICS:

What are Events like?

The Admin loves his experiments, both the characters he refers to as such and the random ones he puts those characters through for the hell of it. And random really does mean random. Events in The Top don't happen on a schedule. Meaning they aren't planned to happen every month, every other month, etc, though this isn't to say that they can't happen that way. When an event is going to be run, it will be announced two weeks before the event log will be posted. This helps makes things more unpredictable ICly for characters.

Parties/weddings/etc are "events" that do not need mod permission to be thrown!


How long will the game last?

The game is set to open its first Application round on September 21st, 2024 with the game officially opening on October 1st. There isn't a set endgame date yet, but it will likely last between one and three years long.

Who can I app?

You can app any character from any series as long as there is enough canon for them. If an application ends up being 50% or more headcanon, that character won't be acceptable.

Non-human characters will be humanized upon arrival thanks to their gem.

Extreme heights; Any very tiny characters or very large characters will also have their heights adjusted appropriately (so girls the size of a thumb or 2' tall dragons will be more around 4' at the smallest and ginormous robots and mechas will be about 7' at the tallest).

CRAUs are allowed! If the character has a monster form from a previous game, they will lose that form and the associated powers. However you will have the option to choose the closest monster type within The Top in your application rather than being assigned something new if you'd like.

OCs and silent protagonists (such as Light Bearers from Final Fantasy) are both allowed. Canon OCs will be allowed as long as they have absolutely no relation to canon characters whatsoever. For example: You can make a BNHA OC who is a student of UA that knows of All Might, but they can't have actually met him before. If you have any questions, feel free to message me about it.

New Series/Chapters; If your character is coming from a new series, you must wait one month from when it was released before apping that character. Similarly, you must wait one month from when a new chapter for a series is released before apping a character from that canon point.


!Age Limits and Physical Intimacy!

There is an age limit of 14 at the youngest with no cap for the eldest, and this counts for physical bodies as well. Characters who are hundreds of years old inhabiting a ten year old's body are not allowed. Characters who are an adult possessing a child's body are also not allowed.

There is a hard age limit of 16, physically AND mentally, for sexual intimacy or smut. If your character is a day away from 16, if your character is 50 years old mentally but 15 physically, if your character is 50 years old physically but 15 mentally - these characters and any others with similar circumstances cannot participate in sexual intimacy, smut threads, or smut elements within events.

The physical touch aspect of this game is extremely broad. It can be as little as hand holding, as violent as fist fighting, as friendly as hair ruffling, or as intimate as sex. All forms of physical contact have equal effect and can be between any sort of relationship; friends, family, lovers, rivals, etc. This will be covered more in depth later in the FAQ, but the main purpose of this is to point out that characters can be under 16 and still fully participate in this game.

How does AC work?

AC is check in every month, on a permanent AC page. All comments can be saved and used for regains instead of being needed for main AC.

However, just because the AC will be lax doesn't mean I will allow people to squat. There is a player report page where you can report players for inappropriate behaviour and that includes squatting. All comments will be screened with anonymous comments disabled to avoid potential abuse of the system.

The purpose of this page is 1) to give players a place to report someone who is making them uncomfortable in any way, shape or form.

And 2) to help keep each other accountable and discourage players from squatting when incentive to tag like regains isn't enough (such as those who don't really want to play in the game anymore but don't want to drop because of their CR or the like).

When to report, how, limits on reporting, what happens after, and more in-depth information can be found on the page itself.

How does the TDM work? Is it game canon?

TDM threads are not game canon. The TDM will be the same prompts every single time it's posted so more focus can be put towards the events themselves. There will be a fun orientation for every app round, which is different from the events, so it wouldn't make sense to keep it canon.

How do Drops, Hiatuses, and Canon Updates work?

You may file for any of these, any time you'd like. When you drop, go on hiatus, or update your character's canon point, they will disappear suddenly. If dropped they won't return until reapped, when on hiatus they're gone for your hiatus period, and when updated they're gone for three days.

Upon returning, your character will suffer from a temporary bout of amnesia that can last one hour or up to two days. When you drop, you may choose to reset your character entirely upon re-applying and they simply will never recover from their amnesia. With canon updates, they will return with immediate knowledge of their update, and slowly gain back memories of the tower.

When it comes to updating to a new canon point, you must wait at least one month from when it was released to update to it.

How does Death work?

A character may only die if their gem is destroyed with magic. Death is not permanent, however if you choose to kill your character they will permanently lose all memories of their time spent in The Top. It's a choice you have to choose carefully, but there are some boons to killing and resetting your character. You may have a free choice of new monster type and if your character dies you also unlock the ability to change into a special monster type, the Ghoul. (Which you can only get otherwise by buying with regains.)

How do regains work?

Every 10 comments is one coin. You may turn in threads at any time to the regain post to earn coins in order to buy regains. ICly, characters will wake up with these under their pillow and they may take them to the giftshop up in the working floors to buy what they like.

How does my character's inventory work? Can they have pets?

Character's arrive with absolutely nothing. They wake up in a white T shirt and white shorts, and no pets will arrive. They can regain them, and they will arrive with everything necessary to take care of them. Characters will also have large chests and closets to put their things in, but they'll have to fight with their three other roommates for the extra storage space.

What if my character commits a crime?

Absolutely nothing! It's part of the experiment to see what will happen during captivity, so if that does happen it's all just part of the results.

What if my character is an inventor/genius/scientist and wants to invent a way home or a way to turn back to normal?

They may try to find or create ways to go home or turn back to how they're supposed to be if they'd like, this isn't a game where those actions are not allowed. I encourage characters to try and invent a ton of things!

But when it specifically comes to finding a way home or turning back to normal, which are big game ending mechanics, they will be fruitless attempts at least until endgame!

MONSTER AND POWER QUESTIONS:

How do they transform?

The short answer? The gems. I've mentioned them a few times before, but let me explain them further. Each character has a gem, and it has replaced their heart entirely. It sits in the middle of their chest, protruding out enough that they can be seen. Think Steven Universe. The gems are connected to a colour, and that colour to a set of powers. The colour runs through their new heart and the blood is replaced with mana. It colours their veins and in turn, their skin can look a little or a lot coloured depending on player's preference.

The magic also is what's responsible for their transformation. It's seemingly random what character has what monsters, with no correlation to the colours whatsoever, but the magic in their hearts is what causes their bodies to transform. It starts as a fever, that turns into chills and cramps all over the body, until the new monster parts finally grow and force their way out to the surface.

How do you pick my monster type?

On the application, I ask that you pick your three choices out of the existing types in game. From there I will pick one, which can be based on their personality, if there's more of one monster type than of another that you picked, their entire vibe or sometimes it may be picked entirely at random.

Do you pick my gem colour too?

Nope! The colour is completely up to the player. What powers your characters have is in your hand, and remember that they're not connected to the monster types and only the colour! Also remember that you may pick any gem in existence, and any shade. Pinks for red, for example.

GEMS MUST BE ONLY ONE COLOUR.

You may pick a ruby, which is all red. You may pick rhodochrosite, which is many shades of red in one stone. But you may not pick watermelon tourmaline, as it is both red and green.

Do I have to stick to the exact outlines on the information pages?

You do not! As long as you don't suddenly mix and match monsters together, you can do basically anything. Any colors for fur, scales, eyes, hair, etc is allowed. Any inspiration from similar creatures that haven't been mentioned is allowed-- basically go for whatever you'd like, and if there's anything specific you're worried won't be allowed then feel free to comment below!

How do monsters eat?

Every monster has their own way of eating. It's listed on their information page, and the mess hall will provide anything their little monster heart desires.

Tell me more about the gems and their powers.

As I mentioned, gems replace a character's heart and pumps mana all through their body. It beats like a real heart, but glows on every beat and the mana has a slight glow when you look closely at the veins in your skin. There are six colours for players to choose from, and they have to choose a gem to represent their character. For example, I could choose red for my colour and a ruby for my gem. It doesn't matter if more than one character has the same kind of gem, it's more for aesthetic purposes honestly. The colour can also be any shade, so if you choose red you may have your character have a ruby or something pink like a rose quartz. A dark red like a garnet would be acceptable as well. Remember to think of it like Steven Universe-- the colour you choose will change their skin tone as well. Which will also carry over into the monster form.

The powers, as mentioned, are based on the colour. There are six colours-- Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple. Go to the powers page to see which colour has which powers.

I've also mentioned this before, but a unique mechanic to this game is the ability to stave off your monster form with physical touch. An hour long hand holding session will leave you in your human form for one day, two hours will leave you two days and so on and so forth. Every level of physical touch is the same ratio -- one hour of punching is one day of human form, one hour of sex is one day of human form, etc etc.

UPDATE: There can be stages for your monster form! Using Werecreature as an example: mostly human when there has been a lot of physical touch, furry anthro when they haven't been touched in a while, and more monstrous form when been alone for a period of time.

The only way a character may die is by their gem being destroyed. They're only able to be broken with magic, no physical attacks will leave even a scratch. But magic attacks will, and the more scratches the worse physical health a character is in. Physical touch can buff out scratches in gems and restore them to full health.

I want to be a monster permanently so I can be intimate with my monster bits!

No problem! There is a regain that is priced cheap so you may buy it as soon as you can! Once they have their permanent form, physical touch no longer keeps them human.
